The project „Empowering Young Women and Girls“ was initiated in 2014 by Uwezo Development Initiative (UDI), a community-based organization in Kilifi, Kenya.
The current biggest project is part of the main objectives of the organization:
The main objective of UDI is to reduce poverty and suffering among the vulnerable group that is the women, youth and children in the society by empowering them socially and economically for sustainable development.
To achieve that main objective UDI conducts trainings to different topics such as family planning, HIV/AIDS, cervical cancer screening, hygiene. Moreover, UDI offers them economic training on savings and credit scheme and supports them with income generating activities. In this way, they have the chance to become personally and economically independent.

Project Location
Kilifi is located 1,5 hours driving distance north of Mombasa at the east coast of Kenya. The targeted women come from 5 different villages within Kilifi county.
